BENEFITS AND ME

THURSDAY 14th OCTOBER 2.30-4.30PM

Ealing Centre for Independent Living,
1 Bayham Road, West Ealing W13 0QT

West Ealing British Rail Station, Buses 207, 607, E2, E3

ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT CHANGES TO THE WELFARE BENEFITS SYSTEM?

(e.g. Replacement of Incapacity Benefit with E.S.A.: more stringent Work Capability Assessments: medical re-assessment of everyone on DLA: possible merging of DLA with social services payments: cap on Housing Benefit: and more?)

Have you had good and bad experiences in claiming benefit?
Have you decided not to apply for a benefit you may be entitled to?
Has your claim been turned down?
Have you had to go to appeal?

A SPEAKER from THE DISABILITY ALLIANCE (publishers of the Disability Rights Handbook) will give a short talk on current and proposed changes to the benefits system. There will also be a chance to ask questions.

There will be a DISPLAY of the range of current guides and information that is available to people with ME, to help us in making claims.

We hope this will also be an opportunity for us to exchange information on our own experiences: offer mutual support on what can be a very emotionally difficult process and find out more about campaigning. This meeting will also constitute Network Mesh’s AGM, but it is open to all people with ME and their carers and is free.

Please do not wear aftershave or perfume to a meeting as some people with ME are sensitive to the chemicals in them.
